Undergraduate Student Staff Positions

The Center for Student Engagement (CSE) is a high-energy and vibrant office that strives to provide great resources, services, and events for students and student organizations.

To offer the students of CUA an enriching undergraduate experience, we rely on the work of our dedicated student staff. Each team member will primarily serve on one of our smaller functional area teams to complete most of their hours. Our functional area positions have a starting pay rate of $16.00/hour with students expected to work 12-15 hours per week. Our Work Study positions pay a starting rate of $13.00/hour with students expected to work 8 hours/week. Our Events Team has a starting pay of $13.00/hour with varying hours per week depending on the events CSE puts on. Also, our student staff members make up a larger team and share various responsibilities to maintain an operational office. The duties of our student staff are as follows:

  • Student Staff Functional Area Positions

    The Center for Student Engagement has multiple Student Staff positions that are open to any Catholic University student. These positions each pay a starting rate of $16/hour and expect a weekly workload of 12-15 hours/week. These positions have the following responsibilities and qualifications.

    Student Organization Services (2 Positions)

    • Oversee financial accounts for student organizations
    • Process financial paperwork for student organizations including approving purchase requests, preparing financial items, processing deposits, and reflecting financial transactions in the Nest
    • Process direct payments for services provided and reimbursements 
    • Oversee monetary transactions and ensure compliance with university financial procedures and guidelines
    • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling student organization financial matters

    Events (5 positions)

    *Duties may include but are not limited to:

    • As a team plan 1-2 CUA Nite Live events each month creating a variety of experiences for our students ensuring that we are building a diverse calendar of programming
    • Assist with the planning and execution of DC Nite Out excursions throughout the year
    • Assist in the implementation of Large Scale University programming
    • Assist with Take Flight First Gen Programming
    • Assist with Cultural Programming and theme month programming
    • Club Event Approvals

    Marketing (1 Position)

    • Design and create promotional materials for CSE events, programs, and departmental initiatives, including flyers, social media graphics, and digital signage.
    • Collaborate with professional staff and student event coordinators to identify marketing needs and promotional strategies for CSE.
    • Ensure all marketing materials align with departmental and university branding standards. 
    • Develop engaging content for social media platforms and assist with content scheduling for all department events.
    • Review and approve Pryz display screen submissions to ensure accuracy
  • Work Study Student Staff Functional Area Positions

    The Center for Student Engagement has multiple Work Study Student Staff positions that are open to any Catholic University student who has Work Study available. These positions each pay a starting rate of $13/hour and expect a weekly workload of 8 hours/week. These positions have the following responsibilities and qualifications.

    Student Organization Services (1 Position)

    • Oversee financial accounts for student organizations
    • Process financial paperwork for student organizations including approving purchase requests, preparing cash boxes and purchasing cards, processing deposits, and reflecting financial transactions in the Nest
    • Manage required documents pertaining to student organization travel

    Events (4 Positions) 

    *Duties may include but are not limited to:

    • As a team plan 1-2 CUA Nite Live events each month creating a variety of experiences for our students ensuring that we are building a diverse calendar of programming
    • Assist with the planning and execution of DC Nite Out excursions throughout the year
    • Assist in the implementation of Large Scale University programming
    • Assist with Take Flight First Gen Programming
    • Assist with Cultural Programming and theme month programming
    • Club Event Approvals
  • Event Support Team

    The Center for Student Engagement hires students who would like a more flexible work schedule for a team that helps to support events throughout the year. These positions each pay a rate of $13/hour with a weekly hourly work opportunity that varies throughout the year. This position is ideal for someone who has other campus jobs but would like more hours, or doesn’t have the time to commit to a higher level commitment role. The Events Team could be responsible for the following tasks at the various Center for Student Engagement Events:

    • Event Check-In
    • Event Setup
    • Event Clean Up
    • Event Support at a station
    • Tabling to market events
  • Front Desk Staff

    The Center for Student Engagement has multiple Student Staff positions that are open to any Catholic University student. These positions each pay a starting rate of $13/hour. Hours are dependent on availability.These positions have the following responsibilities.

    • Assist student organizations or other visitors to CSE with questions that they may have via phone, in person, or email. 
    • Receive, log and sort packages/mail
    • Maintain CSE office and Nest spaces 
    • Track inventory for general office supplies weekly
    • Restock CSE kitchen area with supplies for student organizations
    • Completing any assigned projects as need
